About

We’re working to understand how much of a business software can build, run, and improve autonomously. We run a continuous loop in which agents look for businesses they can operate and build the software for them. We monitor their work and add capabilities as we learn what they need.

Motor grew out of that work: it’s a catalog of services for building and running a business, available through a single API. Agents need services they can configure and manage themselves, through structured interfaces. Building those services together gives agents a consistent way to operate them and gives the people overseeing them one place to see what’s happening. You and your agents share one account, one bill, and one place to manage what your (or their) business uses.

Our team

We’re Maggie, Nick, and David. Maggie and Nick have worked together for nearly a decade, and met David at Coinbase, where we worked on institutional trading and management of the core exchange.

Our prior work includes core search and ad systems at Google and early work at Gusto (then ZenPayroll) as well as two shared startups in various roles: Seneca Systems (co-founded by Nick, and part of Y Combinator S16) and Metawork, where we managed our own forks of popular programming languages to achieve always-on recording of execution for best-in-class observability.
